The spot-on Stop Laughing At Old Movies, You $@%&ING Hipsters, by LA Weekly film critic Amy Nicholson was such a sensation last week that it briefly trended on Twitter. And for good reason. Any classic film fan who has cringed at inappropriate laughter and cruely ironic theater audiences while watching a favorite flick will cheer.
I have no idea why the already perfect Don't Look Now (1973) needs to be remade. Why can't someone take a shot at a film that didn't work out well?
It's nice that Joris Faucon Grimaud, who made this lovely short film with 120 years of movies crammed into seven minutes, has a healthy appreciation of the classics.
I love getting a glimpse of the homes of old Hollywood stars, even knowing they are very differently furnished than in the past. However, I don't love the table cloth in these photos of Errol Flynn's former home. It's hideous!
The Spook Who Sat By The Door (1973), which is currently available on YouTube, sounds like an interesting film and highly relevant to the events in Baltimore this week.
I'm disappointed by this bad review of Elsa and Fred (2014),the new romance starring Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer, but I have to admit the trailer didn't look promising. At least they got to hang out with each other?
