From the set of director Shirley Clarke's The Connection (1962)
As I'm a huge fan of the independent film distributor Milestone Films, I was thrilled to hear that today TCM will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the company by playing five of its releases, some of which will be featured in prime time.

Milestone releases the kind of movies that can change your outlook on life. The titles they pick are adventurous, groundbreaking and exciting--and all of them packaged with fascinating and informative special features. I'm always amazed by how many treasures they have saved from obscurity. Founders Amy Heller and Dennis Doros are providing an invaluable service for classic film fans.

The TCM schedule for today is as follows (all links lead to reviews of the films on A Classic Movie Blog):

In the Land of the Head Hunters (1914), 5:00 PM PST/8:00 EST

I Am Cuba (1964), 6:15 PM PST/ 9:15 EST

The Exiles (1961), 8:45 PM PST/ 11:45 EST

The Connection (1962) 10:15 PM PST/ 1:15 AM EST

Come Back Africa (1959) 12:15 AM PST/ 3:15 EST
